New Delhi: A huge turnout is expected at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on Thursday, January 30 with Virat Kohli set to make his much-anticipated comeback for Delhi in the Ranji Trophy. Kohli will be playing for Delhi for the first time in over 12 years when they lock horns with Railways in their final group-stage match starting Thursday.
Special arrangements have been made for the game which is no longer just another Ranji Trophy match in the national capital. While security has been beefed up in and around the stadium, the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) has also made arrangements for a smooth entry of fans. At least 10,000 fans are expected to throng the stadium on Day 1 of the Ranji Trophy clash between Delhi and Railways which will mark the return of the ‘King’ to his home ground in the domestic tournament.
How to watch Virat Kohli in action for free in Delhi vs Railways Ranji Trophy match
Entry inside the stadium is usually free during Ranji Trophy matches and it is set to be the same for this game. The fans will be able to watch the match for free. However, they will be required to bring their Aadhar cards to get entry inside the stadium. The spectators need to bring a photocopy as well as keep the original copy of their Aadhar card. They can enter from Gate no.16 and 17 of the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
“The Gautam Gambhir Stand will be open for the spectators. The fans can enter from Gate No 16 and 17. Gate No 6 will also be open for the DDCA members and guests. We are expecting a 10,000 crowd for the first day,” DDCA secretary Ashok Sharma was quoted as saying by the Indian Express.
“It’s a free entry. The fans just need to bring their original copy of their Aadhaar card and its photocopy as well. The arrangements for the fans has been made. It will be like any international or an IPL match,” he added.
Arrangements being made for live telecast of Delhi vs Railways match
The Delhi vs Railways match was originally not scheduled for live telecast. However, the official broadcaster Jio Cinema is making arrangements for the live broadcast of the game considering the hype surrounding Kohli’s return to the Ranji Trophy after over 12 years. The match is likely to be telecasted live on the Sports18 network.
Fans who will not be able to make it to the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi can watch the game from the comfort of their homes. Meanwhile, Delhi captain Ayush Badoni has confirmed that Kohli will be batting at his usual no.4 spot for the team in their upcoming match against the Railways. Delhi need to register an outright win with a bonus point and hope some other results go in their favour to qualify for the knockout stage of the Ranji Trophy 2024-25.
