New Delhi: Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar will be conferred with the BCCI’s Lifetime Achievement Award at the Board’s annual gala in Mumbai on Saturday, February 1. The 51-year-old holds the record for the most runs in international cricket, scoring 34,357 runs in 664 matches across all formats. The former batter has smashed 100 centuries and 154 half-centuries. He also scored the most runs in ODIs (18,426) and Tests (15,921) and picked up 201 wickets in his career.
A official BCCI source told PTI that Sachin will be the recipient of the C K Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award for the year 2024. He has played only one T20I match in his illustrious career. Former India head coach Ravi Shastri and great wicket-keeper Farokh Engineer were bestowed with the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2023.
Sachin made his international debut at the age of 16 against Pakistan in 1989 and played cricket for more than two decades. He is considered the greatest batter of his era and also an icon of the game. He has created numerous batting records during his illustrious career and was also a crucial part of India’s 2011 World Cup-winning squad, which was his record sixth and last appearance in the ICC tournament.
At his peak, Sachin could bring the nation to a standstill by simply walking out to bat. Overall, Tendulkar will be the 31st recipient of the award. Meanwhile, The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) will be honored with the best association in domestic cricket award. Mumbai won the Ranji Trophy last season for the record-breaking 42nd time.
