New Delhi: Just hours after suffering a failure on his Ranji Trophy comeback, Virat Kohli was felicitated by the Delhi Districts Cricket Association (DDCA) President Rohan Jaitley. Kohli suffered a heartbreaking failure on Day 2 of the Ranji Trophy match between Delhi and Railways at the Arun Jaitley Stadium as his innings lasted just 15 balls. He was dismissed by Himanshu Sangwan for 6 in the morning session of Day 2, leaving thousands of fans heartbroken.
Kohli’s dismissal left Delhi in a precarious situation but skipper Ayush Badoni (99) and Sumit Mathur (78) rescued the home side, which ended the day at 334 for 7, leading Railways (241) by 91 runs.
Following the day’s play, Kohli was felicitated by the DDCA for the milestone of reaching 100 Test matches. He played the landmark Test in March 2022 against Sri Lanka and since this was Kohli’s first domestic match at Kotla after achieving the milestone, he was felicitated today (January 31).
Only three players from Delhi have played 100 or more Tests for India with Virender Sehwag (103) and Ishant Sharma (105) being the other two.

Haryana, Kerala seal quarterfinal berths, heartbreak for Karnataka
Meanwhile, Karnataka’s slim hopes of entering the Ranji knockouts from Elite Group C vanished into thin air after Haryana skipper Ankit Kumar’s classy hundred on Friday. Ankit’s 118 (154b, 19×4) powered Haryana to 232 for five at stumps on Day 2 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, leaving them behind by 72 runs.
Once Haryana avoided the follow-on mark of 154, their berth in the Ranji Trophy quarterfinals for the first time since the 2016-17 season was confirmed.
Meanwhile, Karnataka will miss a place in the knockouts since the 2015-16 season.
Even if Karnataka can force a favourable result against Haryana, they can’t stand a chance of gaining a bonus point which was imperative to their progress to the quarterfinals.
Kerala was the other team to reach the quarterfinals from this group with 28 points.
