New Delhi: Michael Venom Page (MVP) stunned the UFC world after defeating unbeaten Shara Magomedov in the UFC Saudi Arabia at the ANB arena in Riyadh on February 1, Saturday. This victory surprised everyone as MVP dominated the fight which no one thought of before the event.
MVP controlled Shara on the feet and on the ground as well and dominated all three rounds in the fight. After winning the bout, MVP wants to move to the welterweight division to compete for the title.
This will be an interesting shift in MVP’s career as not many fighters move downwards in the weights but Page wanted to shift his winning momentum into the welterweight division.
UFC legend Michael Bisping wants MVP to stay in the middleweight division as there are many wrestlers in the welterweight division and MVP’s grappling skills is not great and he lost only one fight in the UFC and that was because of wrestling.
“I’ve got a lot of respect for (Magomedov), but I’ve got to call it like I see it. MVP was by far the better man tonight, He was the better striker, he was in control, he was dominant and he was owning the octagon” Bisping stated on his YouTube channel.
In the welterweight division, the champion Belal Muhammad is a great grappler and the number two ranked unbeaten fighter Shavakat Rakhmonov is also a great wrestler.
UFC Welterweight division
Currently, Belal Muhammad is the champion of the Welterweight division in the UFC but after winning the title he did not defend his title once. He was scheduled to defend his title against Shavakat Rakhmonov in December 2024 but he pulled out form the fight due to the back issue.
Rakhmonov is the next in line after Belal as he is number 2 ranked fighter and whenever Belal is ready for his first title defense, it will be Rakhmonov who will cash-in the opportunity.
UFC Legend Michael Bisping believed that Michael Venom Page should stay in the middleweight division after a spectacular victory in the UFC Saudi Arabia. UFC Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
