New Delhi: All the eyes in the England ODI series would be on Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma’s performance as Team India lock horns with the English team in the three-game ODI series starting on Thursday. Both the teams will face-off in the series opener at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur on February 6.
Team India are high on confidence after registering a 4-1 series victory in the 20-over format and would like to continue the winning momentum in the 50-over format as well. Ahead of the beginning, skipper Rohit and star batter Kohli were seen sweating it out hard in the practice sessions at the nets. The duo looked quite promising in their stroke play and showcased a lot of confidence and class while polishing their batting skills ahead of the first match.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), on Wednesday, posted a video of the duo practicing hard in the nets. The video captioned: ‘Gearing up for the #INDvENG ODI series opener..in Ro-Ko style’, saw both Rohit and Kohli playing hard-hitting sweep shots and lofted hits which amazed the audiences.

Virat Kohli on cusp of big milestone
It all depends on his form but if Virat Kohli begins the series in a fine touch, he will be able to surpass a big milestone in ODI cricket. Kohli is currently the third-highest run-getter in ODIs with 13,906 runs and is on the cusp of becoming the third player in history of the 50-over format to complete 14000 runs, joining legendary Sachin Tendulkar and Sri Lankan Kumar Sangakkara.
Kohli would also become the fastest to reach 14000 runs in ODIs as he has featured in just 295 matches so far. Even if he takes all the three games to cross the record, it will be his 298th game in ODI cricket. Tendulkar achieved this record in his 350th ODI match against Pakistan in Peshawar.
