New Delhi: Defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) skipper Smriti Mandhana has revealed news plans which can help the franchise retain the title. Mandhana said that the side will focus on doing the basics right in the tournament that should help them retain the trophy in the upcoming season.
Mandhana acknowledged the fact that the competition is growing day by day as it was evidently visible from the first season to the second season. So out of all, a single team cannot be picked and RCB need to aim to put up a good show against all the sides in the competition. In an interaction on Disney Hotstar’s Superstars: War of Words, the flamboyant captain said that the team will focus on doing the simple things correctly and not think of much more.
Delhi Capitals committed to earn title
Last year’s runners-up Delhi Capitals seem committed to to lift the title this season under the able leadership of Jemimah Rodrigues, who has emphasised the importance of preparation and adaptability in the shortest format of the game.
‘This is T20 cricket and anything can happen, and we can’t take any team lightly. The most important thing is to focus on what’s in our control: prepare well and execute well. No matter how badly I want to control the results, I can’t – so I’ll leave it in greater hands. But what I can assure you is that we’ll continue playing great cricket.’
Teams like Mumbai, UP and Gujarat are also hopeful of making an impact in the event. Gujarat Giants seem to be eager to prove their mettle, with skipper Harleen Deol excited about playing in familiar conditions. ‘It’s going to be home conditions for us as well. Last time, we played in Bengaluru, so this will be great,’ she said.
The Women’s Premier League 2025 will start on February 14 with the contest between defending champs Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Gujarat Giants in Vadodara.
