New Delhi: A change in window to organise Pakistan Super League could make it clash with the Indian Premier League next year.
The PSL is usually held in February-March every year but due to its national team’s busy schedule, the Pakistan Cricket Board is looking at staging the PSL between April 10 and May 25 next year.
The IPL is generally held by the Board of Control for Cricket in India from March 22 to May 26.
As Pakistan host a tri-series at home after which they are scheduled to conduct the Champions Trophy in February-March on their home soil and then tour the West Indies next year, the PCB is forced to look at an alternative window for the PSL.
The Pakistan national team’s home and away season begins in August and stretches until April 2025.
The PCB has also decided to overhaul the monthly retainers of domestic players. The players who would be selected in five elite teams for three new events that will be called the Champions tournaments.
A total of 150 players will be accommodated in these five teams and would get improved salaries in various slabs.
A total of 40 players chosen in Category 1 will get PKR 550,000 per month whereas in Category 2, 50 players will receive PKR 400,000 per month. 60mplayers will be in category 3 and will earn PKR 250,000 per month.
In the 2023-24 season, PCB’s domestic contracts were between PKR 50,000-3,00,000.
Apart from this, match fees were increased to PKR 200,000 for red-ball cricket, PKR 125,000 for 50-over games and PKR 100,000 for T20 matches.
Last season, the match fees for red-ball was PKR 80,000 and for white-ball matches was PKR 40,000.
