New Delhi: Man who saved Rishabh Pant’s life after the horrific car crash of the Indian cricketer has been admitted to a hospital in a critical condition after he consumed poison along with his girlfriend in an attempted suicide bid. Rajat Kumar, who emerged as the saviour along with another guy when Pant was involved in a fatal car crash back in December 2022 on the Delhi-Dehradun highway, reportedly consumed a poisonous substance which landed him in the ICU and claimed his girlfriend’s life.
The incident took place in the Buchcha Basti village near the Purkaji police station area of Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar district. Twenty-five year old Rajat was in a relationship with a girl (name unknown) from the last five years as per multiple media sources. The couple was planning to get married and settle down but they faced resistance from their respective families as they belonged to different communities.
Convincing didn’t help
In the last five years, the couple tried to convince their respective families but they were against their relationship and advised them to stay away from each other. As reported by ETVBharat, the boy and the girl, despite resistance from their families, used to talk to each other for long hours on the phone as they were madly in love with each other.
As all their attempts to convince the family members failed, the couple decided to take the extreme step on Tuesday and end their lives. After consuming poison, both were rushed to a nearby hospital where the boy survived but the girl died. The girl’s mother has accused the boy Rajat of taking his daughter’s life. The report further mentions that Muzaffarnagar Police Station is currently investigating the case and further details would be revealed soon.
Rajat and Nishu Kumar had helped Pant get put of his burning Mercedes car when it crashed with a divider near Roorkee in Uttarakhand.
