New Delhi: Star India all-rounder Hardik Pandya gave a cold-blooded fiery send-off to Pakistan batter Babar Azam after dismissing him during the marquee clash between the two arch-rivals in the Champions Trophy 2025 on Sunday. Hardik drew the first blood for India by getting rid of a well-set Babar cheaply on 23 off 26 balls.

Babar opened the innings with Imam-ul-Haq after Pakistan won the toss and opted to bat first in the high-octane clash. The duo saw the new ball spell from Indian pacer Mohammed Shami and got their team off to a cautious start. The two openers added 41 runs for the first wicket before Hardik managed to get the prized wicket of Babar, who was looking in great touch.

Babar edged an outside-off delivery from Hardik and was caught by KL Rahul behind the stumps. It was a short-of-a-length delivery from the India all-rounder with little movement. However, Babar went after it looking for a drive and ended up getting a thick edge. The ball flew to Rahul, who made no mistakes behind the stumps and ended up completing a fine catch to hand India their first wicket in the game.

Hardik, who was hit for a boundary on a previous delivery, was fired up after the dismissal and gave a cold-blooded send-off to Babar. The India all-rounder looked animated as he did a ‘bye-bye’ gesture with his hand when Babar was taking a walk back to the pavilion. The Pakistan star gave a death stare to Hardik while walking back.
