New Delhi: After missing Team India’s practice session on Wednesday ahead of the last league game against New Zealand, Shubman Gill put a rest to all the ongoing speculations as he practiced on Thursday in the nets despite it being a rest day. Team India’s vice-captain had sparked rumours about his unavailability for the final league game on Sunday against the Kiwis after he was the only player to miss the net session on Wednesday but he proved the rumours wrong a day after.

The young Indian batter and vice-captain Gill went to the ICC Academy in Dubai on February 27 for an training session. He was accompanied by throwdown specialists and various other members of the support staff as he trained full throttle for the final game against the Black Caps which will decide the table-toppers. India and New Zealand have both qualified for the semifinals of the marquee event.

Shubman Gill is fabulous form

Shubman Gill has recently been in a superlative form where he is excelling with the bat in almost every match. Ahead of the Champions Trophy 2025, Gill delivered a ‘Player of the Series’ performance in the India’s massive victory over England where they clean swept the visitors 3-0. In the ongoing showpiece event, Gill’s performance hasn’t come down as he played superlative roles in the both the league games for the Men in Blue.

In India’s opening match against Bangladesh, Gill notched up a century as he headlined the entire game with an unbeaten knock of 101 runs while in another crucial clash against arch-rivals Pakistan, the stylish batter missed his half-century but made an impact with a score of 46, both coming in winning causes for the Men in Blue. Gill is aiming to make another impactful performance in the final league game which will be a preparation for the semifinals of the event.
