New Delhi: UFC Light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira is all set to defend his title against Magomed Ankalaev at the UFC 313 event on March 9, Sunday. Pereira is very confident to defend his title against Ankalaev, and in response, he offered a six-figure bet to Ankalaev.
The blockbuster fight is getting a huge hype before the event, as everyone doubts the champion’s ability to defend his title. Ankalaev’s grappling skills are top-notch, and Pereira has not tested wrestling in his UFC fights so far.
Ankalaev is getting a title shot after many years of hard work, and he is training hard before the fight. To add more hype to the fight, Pereira offered 1.74 crores bet to Ankalaev. He also targeted his manager Ali Abdelaziz, as the challenger is also confident of beating Pereira.
“Since you are so confident you will win, $200,000 to the winner’s charity of choice,” Pereira offered in a tweet directed at both Ankalaev and Abdelaziz last night. “Win or lose, this will help those in need. It’s in your hands.”
Pereira successfully defended his title thrice in 2024, and now this will be his first title defence in 2025. He will be targeting to climb upwards to pound-for-pound rankings as he is currently ranked number 3 in pound-for-pound rankings.
On the other hand, Ankalaev dropped his debut fight in the UFC, but after that, he never looked back and won 11 fights straight. He defeated every contender in the division and finally got the title shot at UFC 313.
In the co-main event of UFC 313, Justin Gaethje will now fight against Rafael Fiziev after Dan Hooker pulled off from the fight due to a hand injury.
