New Delhi: Despite being 43, MS Dhoni continues to wow fans with his quick reflexes behind the stumps. The legendary wicket-keeper pulled off a brilliant stumping of Suryakumar Yadav during the Chennai Super Kings (CSK)’s opening game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season against arch-rivals Mumbai Indians (MI) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Sunday, March 23.

Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Verma were building a strong partnership when Dhoni combined with spinner Noor Ahmad to get the better of the Mumbai Indians skipper. The 43-year-old showcased why he is still one of the best wicket-keepers in the world with some sharp reflexes from behind the stumps. Suryakumar went for an inside-out drive but the ball spun away and Dhoni was quick to collect it before dislodging the bails in a flash.

It was a moment of brilliance from the CSK legend, who left the fans in awe of his lightning-quick work from behind the stumps. The replays showed that Suryakumar hadn’t even completed his bat swing fully before Dhoni took the bails off. There was no chance for the Mumbai Indians stand-in skipper to make the ground back as he was sent packing after scoring 29 off 26 balls.

Most dismissals by a wicket-keeper in IPL

MS Dhoni holds the record for the most dismissals by a wicket-keeper in IPL history, a testament to his exceptional skills, reading of the game and awareness behind the stumps. He has so far affected 191 dismissals in 265 matches in his IPL career, including 43 stumpings which is the most by any wicket-keeper in the tournament’s history.

CSK restrict Mumbai Indians to 155 at Chepauk

Chennai Super Kings produced a disciplined bowling and fielding performance to restrict Mumbai Indians to 155/9 in 20 overs at the Chepauk on Sunday. As expected, CSK spinners made full use of the slow and spin-friendly conditions at Chepauk to spin a web around the MI batting line-up. Afghanistan spinner Noor Ahmad shone on his debut for the 5-time champions with a 4-wicket haul against Mumbai Indians to help his side restrict the visitors to a moderate total.

43-year-old MS Dhoni once again proved why he is one of the best in the world with a lightning quick stumping to send Suryakumar Yadav packing in the clash between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2025 on Sunday.  Cricket Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
