New Delhi: KL Rahul struck a masterly half century as Delhi Capitals continued their winning run with their fourth successive victory in IPL 2025, with a six-wicket win over Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Thursday.

Chasing 164, DC had slumped to 30/3 in 4.3 overs but Rahul smashed an unbeaten 93 off 53 balls with the help of seven boundaries and six sixes to take them home with 13 balls to spare. Tristan Stubbs was unbeaten on 38 of 23 balls with four boundaries and a six.

Delhi had won the toss and decided to bowl at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium and their slower bowlers justified the decision with probing bowling as RCB could only post 163/7 despite getting a rousing start.

It was Delhi’s fourth win in as many matches and they remain second, behind Gujarat Titans on run rate while RCB slumped to their second loss in five matches. With six points, RCB are third on the points table.

DC Spin masterclass

Earlier, Delhi produced a spin show led by Kuldeep Yadav and Vipraj Nigam to stop RCB to only 163/7 at their own backyard. Left-arm leg break Kuldeep (2/17) and right arm leg spinner Vipraj (2/18) varied their lengths on a sluggish track to derail RCB’s innings after they were sent into bat.

RCB got a fast start, racing past the 50-run mark in only three overs after Delhi chose to bowl with Phil Salts spanking 37 off 17 balls. But Salt departed after a communication failure with his opening partner Virat Kohli (22) after adding 61 runs in four overs.

Delhi skipper Axar Patel brought on Vipraj into the attack in the fifth over and it turned the course of the contest. After Devdutt Padikkal (1) was caught at the edge of the circle off Mohit, Vipraj claimed Kohli with a delivery wide on the off-stump.

Brief scores: Royal Challengers Bengaluru 163/7 in 20 overs (Phil Salt 37, Tim David 37 not out; Vipraj Nigam 2/18, Kuldeep Yadav 2/17) beat Delhi Capitals 169/4 in 17.5 overs (KL Rahul 93*, Tristan Stubbs 38*; Bhuvneshwar Kumar 2/26) by 6 wickets.
