New Delhi: Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh is not part of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG)’s playing XI for their ongoing clash against the Gujarat Titans (GT) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. LSG locked horns with GT at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow in their sixth match of the season. LSG skipper Rishabh Pant confirmed at the toss that Marsh was not part of the XI.
Marsh’s absence is a huge blow to LSG as the Aussie star was in top-notch form with the bat and was firing all cylinders while opening for the franchise. Pant revealed that Marsh has returned back home to be with his daughter, who is ill. He confirmed that the Aussie all-rounder has been replaced by Himmat Singh in LSG’s playing XI.
“Instead of Mitchell Marsh, Himmat Singh comes in. His daughter is not well, he’s looking after that,” Pant said at toss.
There were questions about Marsh’s fitness ahead of the start of the season, but the Aussie star made himself available for LSG right from their first game. He took the season by storm with his exploits as an opener, providing LSG with cracking starts. Marsh is currently the third-highest run-getter in IPL 2025, with 265 runs in 5 matches at an excellent average of 53 and a strike rate of over 180.
He played a key role in LSG’s three wins in their first five matches of the season. Marsh hammered a brilliant knock of 81 runs in LSG’s last game against Kolkata Knight Riders to help them secure a thrilling 4-run victory to climb to the sixth spot on the IPL 2025 points table.
LSG opt to bowl first against GT
Lucknow Super Giants won the toss and opted to bowl against the Gujarat Titans at their home ground. Lucknow headed into the clash with the same bowling line-up, with Avesh Khan and Shardul Thakur leading the pace attack and Digvesh Rathi with Ravi Bishnoi in the spin attack. LSG will be hoping to restrict the visitors cheaply to continue their winning run in IPL 2025.
