New Delhi: The excitement is scaling new heights with every passing game as the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season nears the halfway stage. Match 32 between Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals witnessed the first Super Over of the 18th edition, taking the thrill level a notch higher as the Capitals clinched a thriller to go atop the points table.

While there is still a long way to go before the season ends, some players have set the tone in the first half of the season with some sensational performances with bat and ball and are ruling the roost in the Orange Cap and Purple Cap leaderboards.

Amazingly, the top performers this season so far have been left-handers. Out of the top six in the Orange and Purple Cap lists, five are left-handers.

Purple Cap leaderboard

Left-arm wrist spinner Noor Ahmad (CSK) is sitting at the No. 1 spot for a while now with 12 wickets to his name in seven matches, including a four-wicket haul. Kuldeep, another left-arm spinner, who picked up one wicket against the Royals on Wednesday, is in the second spot with 11 wickets from six games.

Left-arm fast bowler Khaleel Ahmed (CSK) is third in the table with 11 scalps above Shardul Thakur of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), who also has 11 wickets in his kitty but finds himself in fourth because of Khaleel’s superior economy rate of 9.00 vs 10.96.

Another left-arm pacer, Mitchell Starc, who stole the show with his heroics in the Super Over, finds himself in the long list of bowlers with 10 wickets. Another good display with the ball could catapult the Australian pacer into the top three.

Orange Cap leaderboard

In the batting charts, West Indies left-hander Nicholas Pooran (LSG) continues to sit at the top with 357 runs in seven matches, including four half-centuries. He is closely followed by fellow left-hander Sai Sudharsan (GT), who has shown superb form, amassing 329 runs in six matches with the help of four fifties.

Pooran’s LSG teammate Mitchell Marsh (LSG) is third, followed by Shreyas Iyer (PBKS), Virat Kohli (RCB) and Suryakumar Yadav (MI).

KL Rahul (DC) has jumped to No. 7 with 238 runs following his 38-run knock against the Royals. After a bunch of right-handers, Yashasvi Jaiswal (RR), is another left-hander in the top 10 with 233 runs, following his third half-century of the season on Wednesday against DC.

The IPL 2025 season reveals a surprising dominance by left-handed players. Noor Ahmad leads the Purple Cap with 12 wickets, while Nicholas Pooran tops the Orange Cap with 357 runs. Five of the top six in both leaderboards are left-handed, highlighting their exceptional performance in batting and bowling. This left-handed surge adds an exciting twist to the tournament’s narrative.  Cricket Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
