New Delhi: Dabang Delhi defeated Gujarat Giants at the Balewadi Sports Complex in Pune on December 23, Monday. With this win, Delhi reached new heights in Pro Kabaddi League season 11 by extending their unbeaten run to 15 matches. Defending champion Puneri Paltan had the record for the most successive unbeaten run in PKL with 14 matches in the previous season but Delhi broke the record and will go to PKL 11 playoffs with a great run.
Delhi’s star raider Ashu Malik again made a Super 10 in the match, he is the reason why Delhi outperformed every team in their last 15 matches. Delhi finished the league stage in second position with 81 points in 22 matches.
In their last 15 matches, they won 11 matches and drew four matches. Delhi’s raiding duo Ashu and Naveen Kumar have been one of the best raiding duo in PKL season 11. They will directly qualify for the semi-final as they finished the group stage in the second spot.
Haryana Steelers sealed the top position in the points table and also joined Delhi in the PKL 11 semi-final. In the last season, Delhi finished the league table in the third position but were knocked out in the eliminator match.
Delhi have won the PKL title once in PKL history and will look to feel the glory again with their great unbeaten run.
“It’s my first time in the semifinals as captain. If we can continue the form unbeaten streak of 15 matches, we can become the champion. We all are doing well and will keep at it,” Delhi skipper Ashu Malik said after the match.
Which teams qualify for PKL 11 playoffs?
Haryana Steelers and Dabang Delhi directly qualify for the PKL 11 playoffs. Patna Pirates, UP Yoddhas, and Jaipur Pink Panthers have also qualified for the playoffs but will play in the eliminator match to enter the semis. U Mumba are the front runner to qualify for the playoffs as the final team but Telugu Titans also have the same points and have an outside chance to qualify for playoffs.
