New Delhi: Rishabh Pant had a miserable outing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 clash between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Saturday. The LSG skipper, who has been experiencing a downfall in the ongoing edition of the league, was dismissed for just 3 runs in 9 balls after the Super Giants won the toss and elected to bat first in an away game.
After losing Mitchell Marsh and the lethal Nicholas Pooran in just 5.2 overs of the innings, skipper Pant, who came out to bat, was a big hope for the Super Giants but he failed to exhibit any power, falling victim to Royals bowlers Wanindu Hasaranga for just 3 runs. After Pant’s dismissal, the Super Giants, who have been doing fairly well this season, were pushed against the wall.
Pant, who has been struggling in IPL 2025, has produced just a lone good knock of 63 runs against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in LSG’s last encounter. Apart from that, the captain has failed to showcase strength in rest of the 6 games. This was the third time in seven matches that Pant got out on a single-digit score. Aiden Markram and Ayush Badoni did well with the bat smashing 66 and 50 runs respectively to take LSG to a competitive total of 180/5 in 20 overs. Abdul Samad contributed with a fiery knock of 30 runs in just 10 balls. Meanwhile the Super Giants have registered four victories and suffered three losses in the seven matches played so far in the edition. Standing on the fifth position in points table, LSG would aim to climb higher with a victory against the Royals, who are struggling at the eighth spot with two wins and five losses in seven contests.
