New Delhi: The Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) action on Wednesday was full of upsets with higher-ranked teams tasting defeats at the Balewadi Sports C0mplex in Pune. UP Yoddhas prevailed over Telugu Titans 36-33 in an interesting contest after the Yoddhas bounced back from a deficit in the first half. In another match, Bengal Warriorz drubbed Haryana Steelers 39-32 to register their second win against the table leaders this season.
Gagan Gowda, who started the match on the substitute bench, breathed fire with some sensational raids. He bagged 15 points to finish the match as the top-scorer from both teams. Bhavani Rajput picked up six points to support the cause as the Yoddhas made Telugu Titans skipper Vijay Malik’s 11 points go in vain. Hitesh (3) and Sumit Sangwan (2) were the most successful defenders in the match.
Maninder Singh, who recently went past 1500 raid points, completed another Super 10 in the PKL history. The former Bengal Warriorz skipper picked 11 points. But it was Bengal team’s defensive nous that helped them keep the in-form Haryana Steelers at bay with Mayur Kadam leading the mantle by bagging five tackle points, including a Super tackle. Warriorz captain Fazel Atrachali and Manjeet picked up three points each.

Vijay Malik has moved to fourth spot after bagging 9 raid points to accumulate 126 points, moving ahead of U Mumba’s Ajit Ramesh Chauhan and Patna Pirates’ Ayan Lochchab. Haryana Steelers raider Vinay moved to seventh spot with his recent Super 10 and his teammate Shivam Patare entered the top 10 raiders’ list as he picked up eight points to take his tally to 93.
