New Delhi: Manchester City stormed into the FA Cup final for a third season in a row after a convincing 2-0 victory against Nottingham Forest in the semi-final on Sunday. England youngster Rico Lewis opened the scoring for Manchester City, two minutes into the game, before Josko Gvardiol’s towering header in the second half sealed a dominant win for Pep Guardiola’s men at Wembley Stadium.

Manchester City got off to a flying start in the semi-final after Lewis found the back of the net in the second minute. City sprung a few passes before Matteo Kovacic drove through the midfield and laid out a perfect pass to Lewis, who found himself in a plethora of space inside the box. He produced a low finish towards the bottom left corner to put City 1-0 ahead early in the game.

City dominated possession comfortably after the early goal in what was an impressive first half from a relatively young side fielded by Guardiola in the semi-final. Gvardiol doubled City’s lead in the second half with a superb header in the 51st minute. The Croatian defender converted a corner to make it 2-0 for City and effectively seal the tie.

City appealed for a handball right before the corner, however, their request fell on deaf ears. It didn’t matter much, as Gvardiol leapt high inside the area to head home a corner from Omar Marmoush. The goal ended all hopes of a Forest comeback as City continued to dominate the proceedings. Forest did manage to hit the woodwork thrice and gave their all to stage a comeback, but failed to do so.
