New Delhi: Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batting ace Virat Kohli shared a light-hearted moment with former teammate KL Rahul as he tried to recreate his iconic ‘This is my ground’ celebration after beating Delhi Capitals (DC) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 on Sunday. In what was a return leg fixture between the two teams in Delhi, RCB cruised to their seventh win of the season, handing Delhi their third loss of the campaign.
What grabbed major attention after the match was Virat Kohli’s celebration of the victory, who, although wasn’t on the crease when the winning runs were hit, but managed to claim the spotlight with his pumped-up gestures from the dugout. During the handshakes and the player conversations post-match, Kohli made it to KL Rahul and tried giving him a taste of his own medicine as Rahul had pulled off an ice-cold celebration when DC had beaten RCB in Bengaluru, during the first leg.
It is noteworthy that both Rahul and Kohli represent opposite sides in the IPL, of the cities from which they actually hail and play for in domestic cricket. While Rahul is a Karnataka player and has playing roots in Bengaluru, but plays for DC Kohli is a pure Delhi guy but has been representing RCB since the inception of IPL in 2008.
Therefore, Rahul had celebrated DC’s win in an aggressive manner as he starred with a match-winning knock of 93* on his domestic home ground, the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. On Sunday, it was the exact opposite as Kohli, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, shone with a 51-run knock that proved match-winning for his side. He didn’t forget Rahul’s celebration and tried reminding him with the same gesture Rahul had made, playfully mocking him.

Did Kohli and Rahul have a heated exchange?
Earlier during the match, when Kohli was batting during the 163-run chase, he shared a moment with Rahul in which the two were conversing about something, although it was not clear what the conversation was about. Kohli looked a bit agitated from his facial expressions while Rahul, who was wicket-keeping, made a few hand gestures.

Some days ago, Kohli fans were defending his aggression towards Iyer, claiming it was just a display of their friendship but what about this? Chokli literally went after KL Rahul and abu$ed him 😌

The incident quickly went viral and sparked a debate between the fans as some said that there’s nothing serious between the two and it was just a normal chat between them, while some have trolled Kohli for “always” showing unnecessary anger towards the opposition players. Nonetheless, RCB won the game by six wickets and sits at the top of the points table.
