New Delhi: The race for the playoffs is heating up in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 as all ten teams scramble to stay in the hunt. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are currently on top of the IPL 2025 points table with 14 points after ten matches and are close to becoming the first team to secure a spot in the playoffs. A win in their next game will all but confirm RCB’s place in the top four.
The likes of Mumbai Indians, Gujarat Titans and Delhi Capitals are also well-positioned to make it to the playoffs with 12 points each in the tournament so far. Despite having managed only two wins in nine matches this season, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are still mathematically alive in the tournament. However, a defeat against Punjab Kings (PBKS) on Sunday will send them crashing.
IPL 2025 Playoffs Qualification Scenario of all ten teams:
1) Royal Challengers Bengaluru – Royal Challengers Bangalore are leading the points table with 14 points from 10 matches, having won 7. With four games left, they need just one more win to seal a playoff spot. Their qualification chances stand at a strong 91%.
2) Gujarat Titans – Gujarat Titans, led by Shubman Gill, are currently third with 12 points from 9 matches. They’ve played solid cricket so far and have an 80% chance of making it to the playoffs. Two wins from their remaining five games would secure their spot.
3) Mumbai Indians – After a slow start with 4 losses in their first 5 matches, Mumbai Indians have bounced back brilliantly, winning five in a row. They now sit second on the table with 69% qualification chances and need just two wins from their last four games.
4) Punjab Kings – Punjab Kings are fifth with 11 points from 9 matches, including one no result due to rain. With 5 games left, they must win at least 3 to stay in the race for the top 4. Their current playoff chances are 63%.
5) Delhi Capitals – Delhi Capitals began well, winning their first four matches, but have managed only two wins in the last six. They are fourth on the table with 12 points and a 61% chance of qualifying. Winning two of their remaining four matches would likely take them through.
6) Lucknow Super Giants – Lucknow Super Giants have had a mixed campaign, winning 5 and losing 5 so far. They are sixth with 10 points from 10 games. Their playoff chances are 22%, and they need to win at least 3 of their last 4 matches to stay alive.
7) Kolkata Knight Riders – Defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders have had a rough season, with just 4 wins from 9 games and 9 points on the board. Their qualification chances are slim at 12%, but they can still make it if they win all of their remaining 4 matches.
8) Sunrisers Hyderabad – Last season’s runners-up, Sunrisers Hyderabad, are struggling this year with only 3 wins in 9 games. They’re ninth with 6 points and a 2% chance of qualifying. They must win all 5 of their remaining matches to stay in contention.
9) Rajasthan Royals – Rajasthan Royals are eighth with just 3 wins in 10 games. They can only reach a maximum of 14 points, which makes their qualification highly unlikely at just 0.2%. They are required to win their remaining 4 games, and also a miracle involving other results and net run rate to be in their favour.
10) Chennai Super Kings – Chennai Super Kings are having one of their worst IPL seasons. With only 2 wins in 9 matches, they sit at the bottom with 4 points. Their qualification chance is almost negligible at 0.04%. They must win all remaining 5 games and hope for favourable results from the other teams
