UEFA Euro 2024: Best young Players from Match Day 1

New Delhi: Match Day 1 at the UEFA Euros 2024 has ended, and it has been an entertaining week with quite some brilliant individual performances. Players have outperformed each other and kept up to the fans’ expectations. Amidst all the action, young players have shone throughout.

They are competing against the experiences of the likes of Harry Kane, Ronaldo, and Luka Modric, and their performance speaks volumes about what is to come in the future of the European Championship.

For Turkey, Arda Guler has made an impressive start in the Europen Championship 2024. The 19-year-old scored the second goal in Turkey’s 3-1 win. He became the third teenager to score on his maiden appearance in the Euros after Ferenc Bene scored for Hungary against Spain in 1964 and Cristiano Ronaldo for Portugal against Greece in 2004. 

His 20-yard strike made him the youngest player to score in his European Championship. He has already played an impressive stint for Real Madrid, scoring six times in his ten games after initially struggling with fitness and form.

Florian Wirtz became the youngest player for Germany to score at the European Championship. At just 21 years and 42 days, Wurtz scored the opening goal of the Euros against Scotland at Allianz Arena, Munich and achieved the feat. Wirtz also became the youngest-ever player to score in a Euro Cup opening.

The Leverkusen star has performed well at the club level and is expected to help the host nation lift the trophy after 28 years. He will be a valuable part of the German squad in the coming years.

Lamine Yamal became the youngest player to play at the European Championship, playing a major role in Spain’s 3-0 win against Croatia. He easily manoeuvred against the Croatian defenders before assisting Dani Carvajal in La Roja’s opener.

Many experts have described the Barcelona player as daring, innovative, and intelligent in his play. He has already played 51 games for Barcelona. Against Croatia, an opponent Spain often struggles to open up, the teenage winger looked confident and never doubted his space in the field.
