New Delhi: It was chaos, drama and thrill in the air at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata as Shubham Dubey nearly pulled off a miraculous victory for Rajasthan Royals (RR) against the hosts Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 on Sunday. However, KKR pacer Vaibhav Arora held his nerves to nail a perfect yorker on the final delivery of the match to help the hosts clinch a last-ball thriller by 1 run.
With 22 runs to defend in the final over, Vaibhav started well by conceding just 3 runs off the first two deliveries. However, he was smashed for a six followed by a boundary and another six on the next three balls as Dubey turned the game in RR’s favour in what turned out to be a dramatic finish at the Eden Gardens.
With 3 to get off the last ball, it was anyone’s game, but Vaibhav nailed a brilliant yorker to Dubey, who pushed it towards long-on and tried to steal a double to tie the game. However, the RR batters could only complete a single as Jofra Archer fell short on the non-striker’s end and was run out on the final delivery of the game. KKR barely managed to defend the total of 206 runs to stay afloat and keep their playoffs hopes alive in the ongoing IPL 2025.
