New Delhi: Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) franchises announced the retained players list on Tuesday ahead of the PKL 2024 auction, which will take place on the 15th and 16th of August in Mumbai. The retained players list was divided into three categories- ‘Elite Retained Players’, ‘Retained Young Players’ and ‘Existing New Young Players’.
Every franchise has retained a mix of groups of young and experienced players, while many big players like Pawan Sehrawat, Mohammadreza Shadloui, and Pardeep Narwal have been released by their respective franchises. Teams will look to build new core groups that will last them for 3-4 seasons in PKL.
PKL’s most valuable player Aslam Inamdar has been retained by PKL season 11 Champion Puneri Paltan. Ashu Malik and Naveen Kumar raider duo have been retained by Dabang Delhi K.C., meanwhile, star raider Arjun Deshwal was also retained by his franchise Jaipur Pink Panthers ahead of the auction.
88 players were retained by the franchise with Elite Retained Players a total of 22 players, 26 players are retained in the ‘Retained Young Players’ category, and 40 players are retained in the ‘Existing New Young Players’. The experienced star players who will go under the hammer are Pawan Sehrawat, Pardeep Narwal, Maninder Singh, Fazel Atrachali, and Mohammadreza Shadloui Chiyaneh.
There are four categories in the PKL auction A, B, C, and D where domestic and overseas players will go under the hammer for PKL season 11. The categories are further divided into different roles like ‘Raider’, ‘All-Rounders’, and ‘Defenders’. Category A players will set their base price of 30 lakhs INR, Category B players have a base price of 20 lakhs INR, Category C players have a base price of 13 lakhs INR and Category D players will have a 9 Lakhs INR base price.
The auction will consist of 500+ players including 24 players from Khelo India University games. each franchise will have 5 Crore INR total salary purse before going to PKL 11 auction to build their squad.
