The watermelon way out: Study says this summer fruit may reverse erectile dysfunction

New Delhi: Watermelon is one of the most loved summer fruits, one that is healthy, delicious, light on the gut, and packed with health benefits. And while it is known to boost hydration and weight loss results, according to scientists, there are other aspects to it as well. Turns out, eating this fruit loaded with antioxidants and vitamins can boost fertility and reverse erectile dysfunction. Although the list initially included foods like ginger, avocado, honey, nuts, and seafood, it now includes this delicious summer fruit as well.

How does watermelon work to reverse erectile dysfunction?

Researchers involved in the study said that amino acids and vitamins in melons can clear damaged molecules and improve blood circulation to the genitals. Writing about it in the Current Research in Food Science journal, experts said that watermelon supports fertility in men by boosting semen quality, improving the testicular environment, and reversing erectile dysfunction. Watermelon has phenols, vitamins, and flavonoids that boost antioxidant properties, thereby relaxing blood vessels for better circulation, roughly the same way that Viagra works. Researchers say that 50% of men suffer from erectile dysfunction in middle age, but it is short-lived in most cases.
