New Delhi: After the midway cancellation of the IPL 2025 match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals on Thursday in Dharamshala, the entire league is at the risk of being cancelled following the escalating tension between India and Pakistan. The IPL match on Thursday was cancelled following air raid alerts in neighbouring cities of Jammu and Pathankot on Wednesday.
After the match was cancelled, all the spectators and officials were evacuated from the HPCA stadium due to security reasons. IPL chairman Arun Dhumal said that they are reviewing the situation whether the league will continue amid India-Pakistan military conflict. He was quoted as saying to news agency PTI that it’s evolving situation and they are yet to receive any directive from the government. Decision will be taken keeping the best interest of all stakeholders in mind.
Special train arranged to get players from Dharamshala to Delhi
A special train was arranged to get the Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals players and support staff from Dharamshala to Delhi after the IPL match on Thursday was called-off after multiple attacks from Pakistan in various parts of India. The Indian cricket board arranged a Vande Bharat to get the players, support staff and match officials away from the city on priority.
Friday’s LSG vs RCB game to take place?
The IPL chairman also said that the game between Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Friday will take place as per the schedule as of now as they haven’t received any directive to cancel the match. A BCCI meeting took place late Thursday evening amid security concerns raised by the participating foreign players.
Earlier, India launched missile attacks on terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Jammu and Kashmir a fortnight after the Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 people were killed. Late on Thursday evening, a blackout was enforced in several districts including Pathankot, Amritsar, Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur, Mohali in Punjab and Union Territory Chandigarh amid air raid alarms and reports of explosion-like sounds in Jammu.
