ICC Men’s Team Rankings: India reign supreme in ODIs & T20Is, Australia rule Tests

New Delhi: The Indian cricket team continues to hold the top position in the ODIs and T20Is, extending their dominance in the limited overs cricket but has slipped one place to fourth in the Test format, which is ruled by Australia, as revealed by the International Cricket Council (ICC) in their latest annual men’s team ranking update on Monday.

The fresh rankings have rated all the matches played since May 2024 at 100 per cent, also including those of the previous two years at 50 per cent. India’s victorious campaigns at the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 and the T20 World Cup 2024 have been crucial in the team’s journey to successfully retain the top spot in the annual rankings update.

Meanwhile, the mighty Aussies still reign supreme in Tests, a result of their clinical performances, including the 3-1 win over India in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy earlier this year.

One-day internationals (ODIs)

India, who made it to the final of the 2023 ODI World Cup, have only bettered their performances in the 50-over format since then, and on the back of the Champions Trophy 2025 triumph, have improved their rating points from 122 to 124, at the top. New Zealand, the runners-up of the 2025 Champions Trophy, are placed second and have overtaken their Trans-Tasman rivals Australia, who sit third now.

Sri Lanka are placed fourth with a five-point gain, having recently enjoyed a good home run, including the series wins against India and Australia. They have leapfrogged Pakistan, who sit fifth with a gain of one point, and South Africa follow them (sixth with loss of four points) in the rankings.

Afghanistan have bettered England here as well, climbing to the seventh spot following a four-point improvement while the Englishmen have fallen to eighth. West Indies and Bangladesh are ninth and tenth in the rankings list, respectively.
