New Delhi: Delhi Capitals’ spinner Kuldeep Yadav reached the 100-wicket landmark in the Indian Premier League, achieving it in their crucial clash against Mumbai Indians.
The ace wrist spinner dismissed Ryan Rickelton to reach the milestone, in his 97th match. Rickelton attempted to sweep Kuldeep in the seventh over of Mumbai’s innings but the ball lobbed up after hitting the toe-end of the bat to be caught at deep backward square leg by Mukesh Kumar.
Rickelton made 25 off 18 balls with the help of two sixes before getting dismissed as the 30-year-old Yadav took 1/22 in his four years. The India spinner has taken four four-wicket hauls in his IPL career so far, at an average of 27.01 and an economy of 8.02.
He has taken 13 wickets in 13 matches so far in the ongoing edition of the tournament at an average of under 20 and an economy rate of just over six.
Yadav became the 28th bowler and 11th spinner to claim 100 wickets in the premier domestic T20 tournament. Amit Mishra, Rashid Khan and Varun Chakaravarthy are the joint-quickest to 100 wickets, reaching the mark in 83 games among spinners.

Yuzvendra Chahal, who is the leading wicket-taker in IPL’s history, reached the milestone in 84 matches. Kolkata Knight Riders’ Sunil Narine remains third on the list, having reached the mark in 86 matches.
Cricbuzz reports that Yadav bettered Harbhajan Singh’s tally of completing 100 wickets in terms of number of matches. While Singh took 100 matchesm Yadav has taken three less.
The Uttar Pradesh-born spinner now has taken 60 of his 100 wickets for Delhi, at an average of 24.56 and economy of 7.81. Against Mumbai, he has claimed 10 wickets at an average of 36.20.
