New Delhi: Star batter Shubman Gill is set to be named the new skipper for the Indian Test team while Sai Sudarshan and Karun Nair are also expected to be picked in the Indian squad for the tour to England. Team India play a five-match Test series in England starting from June 20 and with the retirement of
Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli coming in a gap of just six days, the selection committee is busy looking for the replacements. As per a report in Cricbuzz, it is being learnt that not many changes would be there in the Indian squad as rumoured in the last couple of weeks. The 25-year-old Gill is expected to succeed Rohit as the captain of the Test format with the decision officially set to be announced on Saturday.

Skipper, squad to be announced on May 24
As earlier reported by news agency PTI, the BCCI will hold their last meeting with regards to the same on Saturday morning which would be followed by a press conference around 12 PM where the new captain and squad for the England Tests would be announced. It is also being learnt that KL Rahul is expected to open the innings for India while Gill would be batting at number four.
Young batter Sarfaraz Khan is also expected to be picked in the squad but Devdutt Padikkal, who was part of the BGT squad, is yet to be fully fit. Meanwhile, with reports of Mohammed Shami being ruled out, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Akash Deep would feature in the squad with Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar being the spinners. Nitish Kumar Reddy and Shardul Thakur might also get a place for the big Test series.
