New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has formed a three-member panel to draft guidelines for team celebrations in the future following the tragic stampede outside the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, which cost the lives of 11 people during Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB)’s IPL title celebrations.
The incident took place on June 04, a day after the IPL 2025 final, where RCB defeated Punjab Kings (PBKS) to win their maiden IPL title. Thousands of fans gathered outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, where a felicitation event was organised by the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) for RCB’s title-winning squad.
Lakhs of fans packed a 35,000-seater Chinnaswamy Stadium while thousands of others waited outside, trying to force their way into the venue to get a glimpse of their favourite players. Chaos unfolded outside the stadium due to an overwhelming crowd, leading to a deadly stampede. 11 people died in the tragic incident, while several others sustained injuries.
In light of the tragic incident, the BCCI has decided to formulate guidelines for celebrations to avoid such unfortunate incidents in the future. A decision regarding the same was taken in the BCCI’s Apex Council meeting on Saturday. The three-member panel will consist of BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia, vice-president Rajeev Shukla and treasurer Prabhtej Singh Bhatia.
“In light of the incident that occurred during the victory celebrations in Bengaluru, the Apex Council has decided to constitute a committee to formulate comprehensive guidelines aimed at preventing such occurrences in the future,” BCCI said in a statement.

However, Sosale, DNA Entertainment’s vice president, Sunil Mathew, and two others were granted interim bail by a single-judge bench of the Karnataka High Court on Friday, June 13. The Karnataka government has meanwhile blamed the BCCI and RCB, citing lapses in crowd management on the day.
