Andhra Pradesh government replaces TTD Executive Officer Dharma Reddy with J Syamala Rao

Tirupati: With a new government taking charge in Andhra Pradesh, the first change in bureaucracy began with the shunting out of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam executive officer AV Dharma Reddy.

The alliance government appointed a senior bureaucrat J Syamala Rao, an IAS officer from the 1997 batch as the new executive officer.

J Syamala Rao is an experienced administrator spanning many departments across the government including health, urban development, municipal administration, food and consumer affairs. He was the collector of Visakhapatnam district and is presently the principal secretary of higher department.

This transition comes at a time when the handling of TTD by the previous government is under question. Speculation is rife that an inquiry into alleged irregularities maybe taken up by the new government.

Chandrababu Naidu led government has indicated it may investigate many appointments made by the previous government within the TTD over the last five years, which may have contributed to corruption and maladministration.

Dharma Reddy, in-charge EO for two years:

Due to the transfer of the then EO Jawahar Reddy, the government assigned additional responsibilities as EO to Dharma Reddy, who was the additional EO in May 2022. Dharma Reddy was sent on leave on June 11 and has now been relieved of his duties entirely.
