New Delhi: Pakistan pacer Haris Rauf has landed in trouble after a video of him getting involved in an ugly fight with a fan went viral on social media on Tuesday. In the video, Rauf can be seen threatening to hit the fan thinking he is an Indian. However, the fan can be heard shouting back that he is a Pakistani. Rauf was with his wife when the fight broke out on the streets in the US.
The Pakistan team is still in the US despite their T20 World Cup 2024 campaign ending on Saturday with a nervy win against Ireland. Pakistan were eliminated from the group stage of the tournament after managing only two wins in their first four matches. Babar Azam & Co. are expected to soon travel back home.
Ahead of their departure, Rauf’s viral video has once again sparked a controversy for the Pakistan team. In the video, Rauf looks visibly upset and angry at the fan as he tells his wife “Ye India se hoga,” before scampering to hit him. His wife tries to stop the pacer, who is later stopped by a couple of fans, who were also present there.
“Nahi, main Pakistan se hoon, 1 picture maangi hai bass fan hoon,” the fan can be heard telling Rauf as the Pakistan fan confronts him.

While the actual reason for the fight remains unclear, from the fan’s comments it appears that he was asking Rauf for a selfie. However, the Pakistan pacer was not in the mood to entertain any request and there was a verbal exchange between the duo resulting in an ugly altercation.
Haris Rauf’s performance in T20 World Cup 2024
Rauf enjoyed a decent campaign for Pakistan in the T20 World Cup 2024 with 7 wickets from 4 matches at an economy rate of 6.73. He had a dismal start in the tournament as he managed only a solitary wicket in Pakistan’s opening game against USA. However, Rauf bounced back with a brilliant spell of 3/21 against India before picking up three more wickets in Pakistan’s remaining two matches against Canada and Ireland.
The entire Babar Azam-led Pakistan squad is currently under fire as they have been facing criticism from all corners after their disastrous campaign in the T20 World Cup 2024. Pakistan were one of the favourites for the title heading into the tournament but failed to live up to the expectations as they bowed out from the group stage.
