New Delhi: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) pacer Harshit Rana’s flying-kiss celebration went viral during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 earlier this year. Rana blew a flying kiss to celebrate after dismissing Mayank Agarwal during KKR’s clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). A section of fans criticised him for his gesture for the senior batter and he was also heavily fined by the BCCI for his action.
Rana was recently asked during an interview if he would be willing to replicate his flying-kiss celebration if he manages to dismiss Virat Kohli in the IPL. Kohli, known for his aggressiveness on the field, rarely shies away from giving back to his opponents. The KKR pacer came up with an honest reply and said he would never do anything in front of Kohli as he has massive respect for the India great.
‘Virat ke saamne karega? Kya Virat ko flying kiss de payega? (Will you be able to do it against Virat Kohli, will you be able to celebrate with a flying kiss against Virat,” anchor Shubhankar Mishra asked Rana on his YouTube show. The KKR pacer revealed he was dared by a few fans after the SRH game to do his celebration in front of Kohli against RCB.
However, he insisted his celebration against Agarwal was not pre-determined and it came of naturally after he dismissed the SRH batter.
“I am telling you. I didn’t pre-determine that I’ll go and do it in the first match. And even in the second game. People dared me to try and do it in the RCB match. But I didn’t tease him (Kohli). I have respect for him. I have respect for every player, but no, I wouldn’t do it in front of him,” said Rana.

Rana was one of the stand-out performers with the ball for Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL 2024 and played a key role in their memorable title triumph. The pacer from Delhi picked up 19 wickets in 13 matches at an average of 20.16 and an economy of just over 9. Rana impressed many by bowling both with the new ball and in the death overs.
