New Delhi: Regarded as one of the best in cricket, star India batter Virat Kohli has achieved a massive milestone in his career. The former Indian skipper has been named as the most valued celebrity of 2023 in the Kroll’s Celebrity Brand Valuation Report 2023. Kohli, who lost to Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh last year, has now regained the top position as the most valued celebrity, also pipping Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan.
Kohli did wonders in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 after scoring over 700 runs and also won the Player of the tournament in the mega event. With his strong performance in the showpiece event, his brand value grew from $176.9 million in 2022 to $227.9 million in 2023, keeping him ahead of Ranveer with more than $34.6 million.
Cricketers in Top 25 Most Valued Celebrity
Apart from Kohli, MS Dhoni has climbed one spot on the list occupying the 7th position with a brand value of $95.8 million. Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar is placed on the eighth position on the list with $91.3 million.
Indian skipper Rohit Sharma and all-rounder Hardik Pandya also feature in the list holding 18th and 19th positions respectively. Sports celebrities made up over 28-29 percent of contributions in the top 25 most valued celebrities over the last two years.
“According to our analysis, sports stars constituted 26 percent of the overall number of brand endorsements of India’s top 25 celebrities in 2023, which is similar to 2022. This has a potential to increase given the upcoming Paris Olympics,” Jain said.

Kohli is not in the best of his form in the ongoing showpiece event. In the opening three group games of T20 World Cup, the star batter had failed miserably scoring 1, 4 and 0 runs against Ireland, Pakistan and USA respectively. With India reaching the super 8 stage, all eyes would be on the superstar of the contingent to fire.
