Mandhana scales new heights in SA series

Fresh from achieving two landmark feats in the second ODI on Sunday, Mandhana continued his record-breaking spree in the second ODI. The elegant opener broke Mithali Raj’s 13-year-old record with a sensational 117 – surpassing Mithali’s 109-run mark and achieving the highest ODI score by an Indian women’s cricketer at home.

She also became only the second Indian women’s cricketer after Mithali to breach the 7000-run mark in ODIs during the first ODI.

Courtesy of her sensational knock, India posted a decent total of 265-8 in 50 overs. In reply, SA were skittled out for 122 in 37.4 overs to register a 143-run win.

Mandhan’s seventh century in the ongoing second ODI included 18 fours and two maximums. She was dismissed for a magnificent knock of 136 off 120 balls.

India look primed to take a 2-0 lead today in the 3-match series.
