Mumbai: The Bull run continues on Dalal Street. The benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty hit fresh peaks in early trade on Friday amid a rally in global markets. It may be noted that buying continued in Reliance Industries (RIL) and fresh foreign fund inflows was also recorded.
The 30-share BSE Sensex went north by appreciating 308.49 points to hit a new record level of 79,551.67. The broader Nifty went up by 103.75 points to hit a new lifetime high of 24,148.25.
Top gainers in 30 Sensex: Tech Mahindra, Reliance Industries, Sun Pharma, NTPC, Tata Steel and Nestle, Tata Motors, Asian Paints.
Major laggards: Adani Ports, UltraTech Cement, IndusInd Bank and Maruti were among the laggards.
V K Vijayakumar, Chief Investment Strategist, Geojit Financial Services, expressed confidence in the Indian stock market to touch new high and reach the level of 80,000 soon. He backed his prediction as buying is being reported in big companies like RIL and Bharti Airtel.
“The market momentum has the potential to take the Sensex to 80,000 level. The healthy trend in the recent rally is that it is driven by fundamentally strong largecaps like RIL, Bharti and leading private sector banks,” said In Asian markets, Seoul, Tokyo, Shanghai and Hong Kong were trading in the green.
Exchange data showed that Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) bought equities worth Rs 7,658.77 crore on June 27.
The BSE benchmark settled at a new closing peak of 79,243.18 on Thursday. The Nifty ended at a fresh record high of 24,044.50.
