Rishabh Pant brutally trolled on social media after departing for golden duck in T20 WC final

New Delhi: Team India suffered early jolts after a flying start in the T20 World Cup 2024 final against South Africa in Barbados. After opting to bat first, Virat Kohli and skipper Rohit Sharma gave the Men in Blue a flying start where they accumulated 23 runs in the first eight balls but the happiness was short lived as Rohit was dispatched by Keshav Maharaj for 9.

Rishabh Pant joined Kohli on the crease hoping to take the innings forward but he got dismissed in the same over after facing two deliveries, for a golden duck. The southpaw played an unnecessary sweep shot without even sensing the delivery and in the process got caught by wicketkeeper Quinton de Kock. After suffering the double blow, another jolt ripped the Indian batters as Suryakumar Yadav followed the duo’s path.

Meanwhile, after getting dismissed for a duck, Pant was brutally trolled on social media on the kind of shot he attempted to play and that too in a crucial contest like the final of the World Cup. While some criticised his selection in the shortest format of the game, others lamented the left-handed batter for the kind of stroke play he exhibited.
