Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy will meet face-to-face on July 6 at Praja Bhavan to discuss key issues pending between the two states in the AP Reorganisation Act.
AP CM Naidu proposed to hold a meeting and Revanth Reddy accepted the invite after discussing the issue with Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka. In his letter, Revanth Reddy wrote, “An in-person meeting is necessary to help us build a strong foundation for mutual cooperation, exchange of ideas and enable us to better serve our respective people.”
What are the pending issues?
Asset division of 23 key corporations – especially RTC, State Finance Corporation mentioned in the ninth schedule of AP Reorganisation Act.
Division of assets of 30 institutions mentioned in the tenth schedule.
Differences pertaining to Commercial tax arrears, power arrears and Labour Welfare Fund.
Minister Thummala Nageswar Rao asked Revanth to bring to the notice of Naidu the trouble being faced by people in villages that were merged with AP and return them to Telangana.
Minister Komatiredddy Venkat Reddy asked officials to take steps to take over buildings that are located in Telangana but are controlled by Andhra Pradesh government.
It has to be noted that there have been meetings between the then chief ministers of the two states KCR and YS Jagan Reddy after the election in 2019 but there has not been much progress in resolving issues.
Union Ministry of Home Affairs also convened several meetings over the last decade between the officials of the two states but differences remain unresolved.
