Andhra Pradesh: Migrant worker stuck in Kuwait appeals for help, Nara Lokesh assures assistance

A migrant worker from Annamaiah district of Andhra Pradesh, stuck in the desert of Kuwait, appealed for help in an emotional video.

In the video, the migrant worker Shiva said, “Sir, save me, or my only refuge is suicide. I am leading a miserable life as there are just sand dunes all around. There is no one even to talk to. My health is damaged due to the harsh sun. The employers here don’t care. I will die if I stay here for two more days.”

Shiva with his wife Shankaramma, live in Chintaparthi village, Valmikipuram mandal in AP and has two daughters. To earn a better living, he left for Kuwait for work a month ago through an agent from Rayachoti, despite incurring significant debt.

He was required to tend to chickens, sheep, ducks, pigeons in a desert area in Kuwait. The lack of social interaction, lack of food and water resulted in mental distress. He was left alone for four days with the employers not providing him enough essentials. He was asked by his agent and wife to keep working even after he explained the situation.
