New Delhi: The Indian Railways has announced a massive 315 Odisha Rath Yatra special trains. The trains are expected to ferry passengers from across the state to witness the world-famous Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath in Puri, Odisha which will take place between July 6, 2024, and July 19, 2024, according to an official announcement made by Railways minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.
The Indian Railways has sizeably increased the trains allocated for the Rath Yatra in Odisha this year, said the railways minister while meeting Odisha chief minister Mohan Majhi and deputy CMs KV Singh Deo as well as Pravati Parida. The Indian Railways is making preparations for the accommodation of 15,000 devotees who are likely to visit Puri for the Rath Yatra.

The focus will be on passenger amenities as well as boosting the availability of facilities for pilgrims. The East Coast Railway will oversee the arrangements for train passengers visiting Puri during the Rath Yatra. The division will provide a reserved class travel facility in some of the trains that are expected to cover a long distance for the journey to Puri.
While taking stock of the arrangements, East Coast Railway general manager Parmeshwar Funkwal directed officials to complete preparations in advance for the Rath Yatra, the TOI reported.
