Hyderabad: The stage is set and arrangements are completed for Telangana CM Revanth Reddy and Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu’s meeting at 6 pm at Praja Bhavan on Saturday.
This is the first time Reddy and Naidu as chief ministers will meet face to face to discuss outstanding issues related to the bifurcation.
The leaders are likely to discuss division of companies mainly in Schedule 9, Schedule 10 and dues between the two states in connection to power companies. AP government has to reportedly pay about Rs. 24,000 crore to Telangana but AP insists that Telangana owes them Rs. 7,000 crore.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy paid attention to the pending issues after the Congress government took charge in December.
In March, the dispute related to AP Bhavan in Delhi was resolved and recently, the issue of distribution of funds related to the Mining Corporation was also resolved. So far, about 30 meetings have been held between the officials of the two states on bifurcation disputes.
The Union Home Ministry has set up a Sheila Bedi Committee on the distribution of assets, liabilities and cash balances of all 91 companies in Schedule 9. Out of these, there are no disputes regarding distribution of 68 companies. No consensus could be reached between the two states on the distribution of the remaining 23 institutions.
Out of the 142 institutions in the 10th Schedule, there are still disputes over the distribution of 30 institutions like Telugu Academy, Telugu University, Ambedkar University.
