Euro 2024: Pedri forgives Kroos for tackle that sidelined him from the tournament

New Delhi: Pedri has posted a message on Instagram, updating his injury status, and sent a message to the retiring Toni Kroos. Pedri has been sidelined for the remainder of Euro 2024 due to a left knee injury he sustained during a heavy tackle from Kroos in the early moments of Spain’s win over Germany. Both players collided in the quarter-final fixture between Spain and Germany in the UEFA Euro 2024.

Toni Kroos made a questionable challenge on the Spanish midfield maestro that led to a horrible injury, leading to Pedri missing out on the rest of the tournament. The Spain and Barcelona fans went on an outrage, blaming the former Real Madrid midfielder for the horrible tackle.

Having retired from club football earlier, Kroos played his last match as a player during Germany’s final game of the tournament. On social media after the game, Kroos issued an apology to the Barcelona midfielder “Forgiveness and get well soon to @pedri! Logically, it wasn’t my intention to hurt you. A quick recovery and all the best. You’re a great player.”

Despite the injury, Pedri is expected to remain with the Spanish squad till the end of the tournament. He assured Toni Kroos that there are no hard feelings between them, and he understands that such unfortunate occurrences take place in a football match. He also paid tribute to his long-lasting decorated career.

He wrote on the Instagram post: “Thank you, Toni Kroos, for your message,”. He also went on to say,  “This is football and these things happen. Your career and your record remain forever.”
