New Delhi: Team India batter Suryakumar Yadav received a traditional welcome as he reached his home after winning the T20 World Cup 2024 title. Suryakumar headed to his residence in Mumbai after India’s victory parade and felicitation ceremony in Mumbai on Friday. His family members gave the India star a grand welcome at home, adhering to Indian traditions.
In a video that has surfaced on social media, Suryakumar and his wife Devisha Shetty can be seen getting welcomed by their family members in traditional style. His family arranged for Dhol performers and welcomed the couple with garlands and an aarti at their doorstep. Suryakumar’s mother and his other family members also danced with the couple to celebrate the occasion.

Suryakumar the game-changer
Suryakumar was one of the key members of India’s batting line-up in the T20 World Cup 2024 and enjoyed a decent campaign for the Men in Blue. He scored 199 runs at an average of 28.44, including crucial knocks against USA, Afghanistan and England. He failed to notch up a big knock in the final but plucked one of the best catches of the tournament to help India lift the trophy.
Suryakumar showcased incredible reflexes and great of presence of mind on the boundary rope to take an excellent juggling catch of David Miller on the first ball of the last over of the final between India and South Africa in Barbados. The catch turned the match completely in India’s favour as the Men in Blue won the final by 7 runs to lift the trophy.
The Indian team received a grand welcome back home after they landed in Delhi on Thursday following the T20 World Cup victory. The players and support staff were hosted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the national capital where they also interacted with the PM. The Indian players then took part in a victory parade in Mumbai where thousands of fans turned up to make it a memorable affair.
The Indian team were later felicitated at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai and were also presented with a cheque of Rs 125 crore as a reward from the BCCI.
