New Delhi: Former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh has issued a public apology to the disability community after a viral video of him received massive backlash. Harbhajan along with India champions teammates Suresh Raina and Yuvraj Singh featured in a video to mark celebrations of their World Championships for Legends victorious campaign.
A reel video posted on the spin bowler’s Instagram handle saw Harbhajan, Yuvraj and Raina limping while dancing humorously on the popular music named ‘Tauba Tauba’. The part of the video didn’t go well with a section of audience as some found it to be a mocking act for the disabled persons.

Senior Indian para-badminton player Manasi Joshi lashed out at the World Cup heroes. Although Harbhajan deleted the video soon after receiving the backlash, Joshi’s comment on Harbhajan’s Instagram post was visible on the para-shuttler’s Instagram story.
“Wanted more responsibility from stars that you all are, please do not mock at the gait patterns of people with disabilities. This isn’t funny,” an excerpt from Manasi Joshi’s rebuking remarks read.

“We didn’t want to hurt anyone’s sentiments. We respect every individual and community. And this video was just to reflect to our bodies after playing continues cricket for 15 days,” read an excerpt from Harbhajan’s clarification statement.

Harbhajan Singh’s India Champions won WCL 2024
Harbhajan Singh was part of India Champions playing XI, which was led by Yuvraj Singh, in the World Championship for Legends final against Pakistan Champions. India Champions won by five wickets after chasing a moderate target of 157 with five balls to spare. Harbhajan just bowled one over in the Pakistan innings and conceded just eight runs from it.
