Bumrah played an instrumental role in India’s victorious T20 World Cup 2024 campaign. The fast bowler was exceptional throughout the tournament and delivered for the team under pressure to help them lift the trophy. He bagged the Player of the Tournament award for his bowling heroics as he finished the tournament with 15 wickets from 8 matches.
Bumrah was not India’s highest wicket-taker in the tournament but was arguably their best bowler by a fair distance. While he picked up wickets and made the most of the conditions with the new ball, he also delivered whenever called upon in the middle overs. Bumrah was excellent in the death and kept the batters quiet more often than not.
Bumrah’s sensational economy rate of 4.17 was the best among the top ten wicket-takers of the tournament as he let the ball do the talking. Thanks to his brilliant spell of 2/18 off 4 overs in the final, India successfully defended the total of 176 runs and defeated the Proteas by 7 runs to lift the trophy.
