New Delhi: Team India all-rounder Hardik Pandya confirmed his divorce from his model wife Natasa Stankovic on Thursday.
In a post on his Instagram account, Pandya said it was a ‘tough decision’ but in the ‘best interest of both parties’.
“After four years of being together, Natasa and I have decided to mutually part ways. We tried out best and gave it our all, and we believe this is in the best interest for the both of us,” a joint statement from Pandya and Stankovic said.
Runours of trouble between the pair surfaced after the 2024 Indian Premier League.
Pandya had a wretched tournament with both bat and ball after making a mega-buck trade move to Mumbai Indians from Gujarat Titans.
He was appointed the MI skipper in place of Rohit Sharma in a widely condemned move with fans making their displeasre felt through loud boos towards Pandya from the stands anywhere he played.
But the 30-year-old, who had returned to action after recovering from long standing injury issues, turned it around in the T20 World Cup, helping India win the tournament in the Caribbean last month.
He was the vice-captain of the team and played a key role in India’s seven-run win in the final in Bridgetown, Barbados.
The right armer returned India to a heroes welcome though all was not well in his family.
Earlier this month, Stankovic gave credence to separation rumours with a video on Instagram where she said, “Just a gentle reminder from me to you again, God did not remove the Red Sea, He simply parted it. Which means, he won’t remove a problem from your life, he will simply make a way through it.”
While a few days ago, Stankovic has confirmed to have moved to her hometown, Serbia, sharing a photo of her home’s balcony on Instagram, writing “Home Sweet Home” along with a house and a white-heart emoji.
