New Delhi: It’s nothing short of remarkable what Mark Wood manages to achieve as a 35-year-old pace bowler. Age is just a number for the right-arm fast bowler, who put on a show in his first game of the English summer at Trent Bridge, Nottingham. What’s more remarkable is the fact he did the unthinkable in his very first over. There was no warm-up or loosening up. He let loose straightaway.
Coming into bowl the 10th over of the second day of the second Test against West Indies, Wook unleashed six thunderbolts and bowled one of the fastest-ever overs in Test history. With an average speed of 94.5mph, Woods bowled the fastest over in a Test match in England since 2011 and the quickest over by an English bowler ever recorded in the country. Every delivery was over 92mph.
Here are the speeds of Wood’s first six balls: 93.9mph, 96.1mph, 95.2mph, 92mph, 96.4mph, 95mph.
After consistently crossing the 150kph mark in his second over, Woods bowled a 97.5mph thunderbolt. Fortunately for the West Indies, no harm was done to the openers.
Internet couldn’t keep calm watching Wood’s searing pace.

Wood’s incredible comeback
Wood replaced James Anderson who retired after the opening Test. The pace bowler was not available for the first Test having only just returned following England’s T20 World Cup campaign in the Americas, in which he picked up three wickets in five appearances.
