New Delhi: After a long wait, dates for the player auction of 11th season of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) are finally out. The PKL auction is scheduled to take place in Mumbai on August 15 and 16. The announcement was made by PKL on Thursday, just a day ahead of its 10th anniversary July 26, 2024.
10 thrilling years of PKL
Mashal Sports, the organising company of the Pro Kabaddi League, were thrilled to announce the dates for the player auction which fall on the Independence day. The journey of the exciting league began a decade ago between U Mumba and Jaipur Pink Panthers in Mumbai. Post the successful conclusion of the tenth season of the league in 2023, PKL has become the second sporting league in India to complete 10 seasons.
In addition to the dates of the auction, the organising company also a new logo ahead of the Pro Kabaddi League Season 11. The logo showcases the colours of saffron and green similar to the Indian tri-colour, portraying the game of kabaddi as the country’s proud sport.
On this occasion, the League Commissioner of PKL Mr. Anupam Goswami said that he was delighted after making the announcement and they as a unit will try their level best to elevate the richness of the exciting sport.
“We are delighted to announce that the Player Auction for Pro Kabaddi Season XI is being held on Independence Day this year. Kabaddi, which has been India’s unique and popular sport for several millennia, is strongly showcased as a world-class competitive discipline at Pro Kabaddi. This is a great achievement for all the stakeholders of Pro Kabaddi as well as the kabaddi ecosystem of the country under the custodianship of AKFI. We will strongly celebrate this achievement with patriotic fervor at the Season XI Player Auction,” he said.
Over the years, PKL has become one of the most successful sports leagues in the country, transforming the image of India’s indigenous sport of Kabaddi and its athletes nationally as well as across the globe. After witnessing the participation of many of their players in PKL, several Kabaddi-playing nations have also strengthened their domestic Kabaddi programs. The Pro Kabaddi League Season 11 Player Auction will be broadcast live on the Star Sports Network and on streamed on Disney+ hotstar.
