New Delhi: Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, targeted Google, led by Sundar Pichai, on Monday, saying that if the search giant is found to be meddling in the US Presidential election, they could face “a lot of trouble”.
Taking to X, Musk shared a screenshot showing that a Google search for “President Donald” led to results like “President Donald Duck” and “President Donald Regan.” Following this, he questioned whether the search giant had imposed a ban on the former US president and Republican presidential nominee.
“Wow, Google has a search ban on President Donald Trump! Election interference?” asked the X owner. Moreover, he added, Google is “getting themselves into a lot of trouble if they interfere with the election”.
Kamala Harris vs Donald Trump
As Kamala Harris begins her campaign for the White House, she is virtually tied with former President Donald Trump, according to a recent poll released on Saturday. The New York Times/Siena College poll, conducted shortly after President Joe Biden stepped down under pressure from party leaders, shows Democrats uniting strongly behind Harris.
Harris, with 70% support from Democratic voters and only 14% preferring another option, has quickly consolidated the party, which had been fractured. Although she has yet to be officially declared the Democratic nominee, she launched her campaign just hours after Biden withdrew from the race.
A majority of Democrats express enthusiasm for Harris as the nominee, with only 10% dissatisfied or angry. Her rapid ability to reunite the party has narrowed Trump’s previous lead over Biden. The poll shows Trump leading Harris 48% to 47% among likely voters, a significant improvement for Democrats compared to the early July poll where Biden trailed by six points. Among registered voters, Trump leads Harris 48% to 46%.
The survey highlights Harris’s stronger performance among younger and nonwhite voters compared to Biden, although there are concerns she may not maintain Biden’s appeal among older voters. Harris is receiving about 60% support from voters under 30 and Hispanic voters, areas where Biden had struggled. Additionally, she leads by 10 percentage points among voters under 45, compared to Trump’s narrow edge over Biden in that group just weeks prior.
The impact of Harris’s candidacy in key battleground states remains unclear as the survey covers nationwide voter sentiment. Harris emerged as the Democratic Party’s likely nominee following Biden’s poor debate performance and subsequent withdrawal.
