BRS MLAs taken into preventive custody after protesting CM Revanth Reddy

Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLAs were removed by Marshals from Telangana Legislative Assembly for protesting CM Revanth Reddy against his remarks on BRS women MLAs Sabitha Indra Reddy and V Sunita Lakshma Reddy.

They were later taken into preventive custody by the police and were removed from the Assembly premises.

In a video which has gone viral, police can be seen carrying BRS leader KT Rama Rao out of the Assembly and into a police van. Many other BRS MLAs including T Harish Rao were also detained.

Former minister and Siddipet BRS MLA Harish Rao said while he was in the police van that there is no democracy in the Assembly. “They are stifling our voices in the Assembly. It has never been this bad and the CM should apologise for his disrespectful comments.”

This comes after the BRS lawmakers demanded the CM to apologise for his remarks indicating that BRS MLA and former minister Sabitha Indra Reddy was not trust worthy.

The protests are also being held state wide including in all districts and mandal headquarters. BRS MLAs also wore black badges while the two women wore black sarees.

What did CM Revanth Reddy say about Sabitha Reddy?

The chief minister intervened while BRS MLA KT Rama Rao was speaking on the Appropriation Bill on Wednesday and asked him not to trust the ‘sisters’ (Sabitha Indra reddy, Sunitha Lakshma Reddy).

Revanth Reddy said that Sabitha Reddy invited him to Join Congress and promised him support ahead of 2019 Lok Sabha elections. She, however, jumped into the BRS as a minister before he was declared as a Congress candidate for Malkajgiri LS constituency.

Outraged by the comment, Sabitha Reddy accused Revanth Reddy of targeting her during the session. “I encouraged him to join Congress and as an elder sister said that he would go far and he could even become the CM. But why is he targeting me now?” she asked in the Assembly.
